Expert Lawn Fertilization Services in Lake County
Golden Lawn Care fertilizes lawns in Eustis and across Lake County. We look at the grass type, color and density first, then apply slow-release products matched to the grass and the season, applied under Florida's fertilizer application rules.
Fertilizer is only useful while the grass can use it, and only where it stays on the lawn. So every feeding is timed to the growing season, kept off driveways and streets, and kept back from ponds, lakes, canals and wetlands.

Why Timing Matters for Florida Turf
St. Augustine, Bahia and Zoysia are warm-season grasses. They use nutrients while they are actively growing, roughly spring through early fall in Central Florida, and much less in the cooler months. Feeding a lawn that isn't growing wastes product and risks runoff into lakes and stormwater systems.
That runoff is why Lake County, and cities that set their own rules, regulate when and how fertilizer goes down, especially in the summer rainy season. We schedule every feeding around those rules at your address.
What Lawn Fertilization Includes
Each feeding is a full visit, not a spreader pass and gone.

Which Fertilizer Rules Apply at Your Address
The rule that applies depends on whether your address is inside city limits or in unincorporated Lake County. Cities inside the county can adopt their own fertilizer rules; Tavares, for example, has its own rule inside city limits. We follow the one that covers your address, and by default we hold every lawn to the county standard. Following the stricter standard keeps a lawn compliant either way. Lake County's fertilizer ordinance for unincorporated areas sets three rules:
June 1 to September 30
No nitrogen or phosphorus on turf. Micronutrient summer blends without nitrogen or phosphorus are allowed.
15-foot buffer
No fertilizer within 15 feet of any pond, stream, lake, canal or wetland, at any time of year.
October 1 to May 31
Nitrogen fertilizer must be at least 50% slow-release.
When to Fertilize a Lawn in Lake County
Under the county standard the year has two feeding windows, with a summer gap between them.
Spring
Once the grass has greened up and is actively growing, and before June 1.
Summer
Nothing with nitrogen or phosphorus from June 1 through September 30. A micronutrient blend can hold color.
Fall
After September 30, while the grass is still growing, before it slows down for winter.
Winter
Little or nothing. Dormant or slow-growing grass can't use it.
Fertilization and the Rest of the Lawn
Fertilizer doesn't fix a sprinkler zone that misses a corner, compacted soil, or turf that is mowed too short. Those come first. A lawn on a regular mowing schedule with even irrigation coverage gets far more out of each feeding.
The Golden Advantage

at least half the nitrogen in every product is slow-release, so a storm doesn't wash a quick dose into a drain

Common Questions
While the grass is actively growing. In Lake County that means spring, once the lawn has greened up and before June 1, and fall, after September 30 while the grass is still growing. Under the county standard nothing with nitrogen or phosphorus goes on turf from June 1 through September 30. Your address may fall under a city rule instead; we follow the one that covers it.
There isn't one product for every lawn. For St. Augustine, Bahia and Zoysia, a fertilizer with mostly slow-release nitrogen, matched to the grass and the season, does the most good and washes off the least. A soil test shows whether the lawn needs phosphorus at all.
Mow high, water deeply on your allowed days instead of a little every day, and fix any sprinkler zone that misses part of the lawn. In summer, a micronutrient blend without nitrogen or phosphorus can hold color under the county standard. Pushing nitrogen into heat-stressed grass does more harm than good.
Yes. At least half the nitrogen in what we apply is slow-release, which is the Lake County standard from October 1 through May 31. We hold to it whenever we apply nitrogen.
No. We don't apply herbicides, weed control products or pesticides, and we don't use weed-and-feed products. Our lawn treatments are fertilizer only.
