Sod Installation
Sod installation and replacement for homes and commercial properties: old turf removed, soil prepared, new St. Augustine, Bahia or Zoysia sod laid tight and watered in.
Expert Sod Installation Services in Lake County
When a lawn is too thin, too weedy or too damaged to bring back, new sod is the quickest way to a full lawn. Golden Lawn Care removes the old turf, prepares the soil and lays new sod, for a whole yard or just the patches that failed.
We install the grasses that do well in Central Florida: St. Augustine, Bahia and Zoysia. Which one suits your yard depends on sun, foot traffic, and how much watering and mowing you want to do, and we go through that with you before anything is ordered.

Why Soil Prep Decides Whether New Sod Takes
Sod laid on top of dead grass, weeds or uneven ground struggles to root. The old turf has to come out, the ground has to be graded so water drains away from the house instead of pooling, and the sod has to sit tight against the soil with no gaps. Skip any of those and it shows up weeks later as yellow seams and dead strips.
The first weeks after installation decide the rest. New sod needs frequent, light watering until its roots grow into the soil, then a gradual move to the watering days your address is allowed. We check sprinkler coverage before the sod goes down so no strip is left dry.

Which Sod Is Right for a Florida Lawn?
The three grasses we install, and where each one fits.
St. Augustine
The most common lawn grass in Florida. Thick, coarse blades and better shade tolerance than Bahia, but it needs regular water and is prone to chinch bugs.
Bahia
Very drought-tolerant once established and at home in sandy soil. It handles less shade and sends up seed heads all summer.
Zoysia
Dense and fine, and it stands up to foot traffic. It is slower to establish and to recover from damage, and it needs a sharp mower.
Sod Replacement & Patch Repair
Not every lawn needs to start over. Often a few areas died and the rest is fine.

Common Questions
In Central Florida sod can go down most of the year, but it roots fastest in the warm months, roughly spring through early fall, when the grass is actively growing. Sod laid in the cooler months roots more slowly and needs careful watering until it takes.
It depends on the yard. St. Augustine is the usual choice for a thick lawn with some shade and regular watering. Bahia suits sunny, sandy lots where you want to water less. Zoysia suits lawns that take foot traffic and owners who want a dense, fine lawn.
It depends on the measured area, the grass you choose, and how much prep the site needs. Removing old turf and grading can be a large part of the work. We measure the area and send a written price for the whole job with the prep included.
We don't do it. Sod laid over old grass or weeds roots poorly and the old growth comes back through the seams. The old turf comes out first.
Yes. We replace turf on HOA common areas, entrances and commercial grounds as well as residential lawns.
